Website redesign brief template
Answer these questions before you ask for quotes. Developers can then give you a real price range instead of a guess, and every quote you get prices the same thing.
Your brief builds as you type. Copy it, download it, or print it, and send the same brief to everyone you ask. Planning a new site instead of a redesign? Switch at the top.

03Pages and content
In Google Search Console, open Pages under Performance and list the top 10 from the last 3 months. These are the pages a redesign must not break.
Say which ones share a layout, like ten service pages or a page per location. That changes the price more than the page count.

FAQs
Should I send the same brief to every developer?
Yes. Quotes are only comparable when everyone prices the same thing. If one quote is much lower, check which parts of the brief it leaves out, such as content, integrations, or moving your old pages without losing Google rankings.
Do I have to share my budget?
You don't have to, but a range gets you better answers. A good developer uses it to suggest what fits, such as redesigning the key pages first, rather than quoting blind. "Not sure yet" is a fine answer if you genuinely don't know.
I don't have Google Search Console. What do I put for top pages?
Leave it blank, or list the pages you know customers use most, like services, pricing, and contact. Then ask each developer to set up Search Console before the redesign starts, so nothing that brings in visitors gets lost.
Where are my answers saved?
Only in this browser, so you can close the page and come back. Nothing is sent anywhere until you copy, download, or email the brief yourself. Clearing your browser data, or using a private window, clears it.
